Wise Old Man
Way out of town on the side of the road, sits a man on a crate, who sings an ode to the men and women who pass him by.
Well he's a wise old man with a tale to tell, but with the passing of his wife he ain't looking too well.
With a guitar and some hope, it's all he'll ever need.
So let the rain dampen all your clothes, but don't let it dampen your spirit.
It's an analogy you once told to me, and now I'm struggling, struggling to find the meaning.
As I walk past the man I can see in his eyes, a heavy heart he was trying to disguise.
He was bleeding from the scars of years gone by.
He had a little black book that was torn to shreds, his whole life was sitting in the palm of his hands.
These skies turned grey, and then I understood.
He said '
Son you'll see me struggle, but you'll never see me fall.
And pain is just the truth that we all need to be told.
You can live in fear or run away, you gotta let go and move on.'
